Through the Never

There is a cool man who comes to FallCon every year and commissions artists to draw what they think of when they listen to a song of his choice.

The song he gave me was "Through the Never" by Metallica

I interpreted the song as this acrylic painting on canvas, 11"x15" (I think)

I tried to balance the spirit of the music —angular, pulsing, jagged, and "metallic," for lack of a better word— with the cosmic imagery of the lyrics —a meditation on the way our planet is our ship, flying through the endless chaotic vortex of time and space, taking us who knows where. Abstract pulses of energy and swirls of jagged shards mingle with planets, moons and shooting stars through a dark cyclone of space.

This painting ran for $80.
