Are you just making these as we speak? That's brilliant! I think this is aesthetically my favorite piece to come in so far. And you've captured the gameplay too.
I never expected you to do so many pieces so quickly!
Just so you know, on some of the other jumps, it will simply be that one system of bridges ends and another begins. We'll leave that to the animators though.
Do you think that some time in this month, you'd be able to consolidate all these (or parts of them) into one more detailed image? This "master image" would need to have have a detailed impression of the forest itself. It wouldn't be necessary for a while though, you'd be free to take your time. We could also see if someone else is willing to do a more detailed forest background, and you could apply the elements to it. Either way.
Thanks again. These are excellent, and very exciting! YYEEEEEEE!!
If you look at the map in the background there, you'll see that I'm slowly adding my concept sketches to where they would appear on the level map.
My plan is to put the whole thing together out of little concept sketches first, like a puzzle, and once I've got it substantially covered with art, I'll do some final "consolidated" pieces where the whole map is drawn out by hand as a cohesive whole.
Where I'm at right now, though, is still the earlier stage where I try out little bits and pieces to see if they work.
Just to make sure you are aware, my map will not be the final map for the level. It is a rough draft. I'm sorry if I was unclear about that. All the art you've submitted IS usable (and awesome) though, and if that's the way you feel comfortable working there is no problem. The amount of specification you've done will certainly be an aid in level design, that's for sure.
But since this map may change in it's layout substantially, I would encourage you to move to more consolidated pieces drawn from within the level as opposed to bird's eye view before completing every element on the map. I just don't want you to have to redo anything unnecessarily. When we have the final map, if you would carry out this plan (very likely using these same drawings) on that one, that would be awesome of you.
